It's by no means an easy game, but it's a lot of fun, and of course if you want to just crash big rockets to make big explosions in Sandbox you can. There are 3 game modes, Sandbox is what you think it is, in Science you have to run experiments (you have an assortment of experiment parts to add to your rockets) in new places to gain science points to spend on unlocking new parts, and in the final mode (might be Career) you have that but you also have limited funds to build your rockets so you have to complete Contracts to get those (they'll also give small amounts of science). The thing is, the orbital mechanics are highly realistic, so this is the game with the XKCD about how they learned so much more about spaceflight from this than from working at NASA. You start with 4 astronauts, and you design and fly rockets and planes, first on short flights, later on suborbital hops, then to orbit, then to the two moons, then to the red planet, Duna, and eventually to all 4 moons of the gas giant Jool. You play as a space program for the Kerbals (little green men). Submit a new deal Submit a question/PSA Reddit New Deals Popular Deals Meta
